In this article, the author explains how music therapy can improve fine and gross motor skills in children with a disability. "The latest research proves that music therapy offers children with special needs a wide range of long-term benefits"(Nuseibeh4). Music therapy can also improve in social interactions. The article states that some special needs children only respond to a music stimuli. It depends on how the childs brain works with the stimuli from the music. The music that music therapaist (usually vocal, guitar or piano) triggers a action in the brain which causes the child to respond and pick up on musical ques. All in all music therapy can help children with a disability to learn how to live a normal everyday life.
I think that music therapy can help children learn life skills. Not only does it improve their fine motor skills, but it allows them to work with other children with disabilites and work with adults. Some people think that music therapy is just way to get the children involved and it doesn't really do anything to help them. But really the brain picks up on these signals and memorizes certain sounds. This form of therapy is great for younger children with a mental handicap.
